My work is informed by personal observations gathered while traveling the world. The heartbeat of a place – its visual textures, colors and forms are reflected in my paintings and collages. From the cityscapes of Italy, the colors of Kenya & Tanzania, the Israeli deserts, the Galapagos Islands, the Blue Lagoon of Iceland, the gardens of Japan and the California desert where I currently live are all suggested in my paintings and collages. The colors and textures of the marine life beneath the water’s surface of the Galapagos Islands inspired several paintings, as did Claude Monet’s gardens at Giverny and the sands of the Judean Desert in Israel. I love texture both applied and by motion. I love basic elements of design. I tend to work in a series of images before moving onto another series. At times the subject matter may be recognizable but more often it leans towards the abstract. When I reflect over the body of my work over the past 40 + years, to me they clearly tell a story of my life well lived, filled with diversity, independence, and creative expression. For now, this website shows works done over the past 3 years only.
